Church of the Nazarene Articles of Faith
The Church of the Nazarene world-wide has established the following Article of Faith:
We believe in:
The Triune God, the one eternally existant, Triune God being revealed as Father,
Son and Holy Spirit,
Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Triune Godhead;
The Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Triune Godhead;
The Holy Scriptures that are given by divine inspiration;
Sin, Original and Personal which has come into the world through the disobedience
of our first parents, and death by sin;
Atonement, made by Jesus Christ through His suffering and
shedding of His blood and death on the Cross - for all human sin;
Prevenient Grace, being that the human race's creation includes the ability to
choose between right and wrong and that thus human beings were made morally responsible;
Repentance, which is a sincere and thorough change of the mind in regard to sin;
Justification, Regeneration, and Adoption - these are simultaneous in the
experience of seekers after God;
Entire Sanctification which is the act of God by which believers
are made free from original sin,
and brought into a state of entire devotement to God;
The Church - which is called to express its life in the unity and fellowship of the Spirit;
Baptism which is a sacrament signifying acceptance of the
benefits of the atonement of Jesus Christ;
The Lord's Supper which is essentially a New Testament sacrament
instituted by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ;
Divine Healing which is a Bible doctrine that we urge our people to seek
to offer the prayer of faith for the healing of the sick;
Second Coming of Christ when we shall be caught up with the
risen saints to meet the Lord in the air,
so that we shall ever be with Him;
Resurrection, Judgement and Destiny; resurrection of the dead - judgement in which
every person shall appear before God to be judged according to their deeds in this life -
our destiny that a glorious and everlasting life is assured to all who savingly
believe in and obediently follow Jesus Christ our Lord!
